The 2025 Japan Mobility Show is shaping up to be a real treat if you’re into unconventional cars. Lexus just teased a boxy, wacky LS-based minivan, but another member of the Toyota empire is also gearing up for an intriguing debut. Century, the de facto flagship brand, is bringing this striking coupe.
Since 1967, Century has represented Japan’s pinnacle of automotive luxury, including a second-generation model that housed Toyota’s only V-12 engine. Then came the SUV in 2023, and now there are clear signs of a coupe on the way. It’s touted as a “one of one,” suggesting it’s either a concept or a bespoke build for a wealthy client. Either way, the world’s largest carmaker seems determined to experiment with new body styles under the Century banner.
Radically different from the Century models of yore, this coupe features sliding doors and no B-pillars. We’re assuming it has rear seats since the passenger side includes a shorter sliding rear door. Upon closer inspection, some teaser images even hint at a central driving position. Oh, and a rectangular steering “wheel.”
Elsewhere, Toyota seems to have taken a page from Polestar’s book by removing the rear glass. The dual-layer headlights and taillights give off Genesis vibes, while the hood vents raise questions about whether there’s a combustion engine hiding beneath. The large grille adorned with a gold phoenix emblem doesn’t appear to be fully closed off, further hinting at an ICE setup.

The one-off looks imposing and unusually tall for a coupe. The rakish roofline likely limits rear headroom, and there are no Toyota badges anywhere, befitting Century’s status as a separate brand positioned above Lexus.
If a production version follows, it may not remain Japan-exclusive. Toyota has already expressed its ambition to take Century global. Historically, the sedans were largely confined to the domestic market, but the SUV is now sold in China, and reports suggest an expanding family of Century models for multiple regions.
The unnamed Century coupe will be unveiled at the end of the month during the Japan Mobility Show. Additionally, the core Toyota brand is expected to debut a Corolla concept that could preview the next-generation model.
