Torino have announced that striker Alieu Njie has undergone surgery for a major fracture and it could be the end of the season for him.
The forward was stretchered off during the most recent Serie A match against Atalanta, which ended 1-1 on Saturday evening.
He was later diagnosed with a fractured tibial malleolus bone in his right ankle.
This required surgery to reduce the fracture, which was successfully performed today by Professor Luigi Milano and Torino medic Corrado Bertolo.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Njie is expected to be out of action for at least three months.
It means the season is most likely already over for the left-sided attacking winger.
The 19-year-old joined the Torino youth academy from Forssa BK in the summer of 2021.
So far this season, he has made 17 competitive appearances for the senior squad between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, scoring one goal.
That was the decisive finish in a 1-0 home victory over Como on October 25, 2024.
