The Tommy Fury vs. Darren Till kickoff news conference descended into utter chaos Tuesday in London after John Fury launched a liquid attack on the former MMA star.
The younger Fury (10-0, 4 KOs) and Till were in the middle of a heated war of words when the undefeated boxer’s notorious father, John Fury, interrupted to call the UFC title challenger “pig eyes.” The comments came in direct response to an assertion Till made about a sparring session between him and the most famous fighting Fury, former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
“Leave my son Tyson’s name out of your mouth,” John Fury exclaimed. “Leave his name out of your mouth because you ain’t good enough to s*** his d***.”
“I’m being real,” Till responded, “Tyson came to spar me, and I treated him like a baby.”
Tommy Fury and and Till meet Jan. 18 in the main event of Misfits Boxing’s first event of 2025, “MF & DAZN: X Series 20,” at the new Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England.
The sparring session in question was a 2019 MMA training session Till had with Tyson Fury after the boxer’s stint in WWE a month prior.
As the two continued to bicker back-and-forth, John Fury eventually picked up a bottle of water and hurled it at Till after the UFC veteran called Tommy Fury an “empty head” with “the IQ of a loaf of bread.” Till immediately shot to his feet and attempted to walk toward the elder Fury, presumably to attack him, prompting security to rush the stage and halt his efforts.
Tuesday’s theatrics were not the first time “Big John” has caused one of Tommy Fury’s news conferences to descend into chaos. At the first news conference of Tommy Fury’s Misfits Boxing bout against KSI, John Fury flipped over the table he was sitting at and began kicking the table of his son’s opponent, inciting an on-stage brawl that once again forced security to intervene between KSI and the Fury clan.
Before John Fury’s antics on Tuesday, Tommy Fury and Till were locked into an amusing exchange, during which Till announced that if he can’t beat Fury using boxing rules, he will resort to MMA techniques.
“If I’m losing that fight,” Till said, “I’ll just kick you straight in your face. You won’t know what’s hit you.”
“Listen, kick me straight in the face,” Tommy Fury responded. “Well, that’s it — it’s going to be a proper fight then, isn’t it?”
“Then I’ll win because I’m a proper fighter,” Till insisted, “You’re a boxer. I don’t walk into rooms — I don’t walk in a room like this and see boxers and go, ‘S***.’ I walk in, no one in here is a threat to me. Not one person in this room — security, you, your dad, are not a threat to me. I’m an MMA fighter, so if I want to kick you or elbow you in the face, I will. And no one can do anything about it. How about that?”
“If I’m in that fight and I’m losing, ‘Right, I’m kicking him in the face now,'” Till reiterated. “And you ain’t going to do s***. I’ll look at [Misfits founder] KSI, I’ll say, ‘KSI fine me all my money,’ because I’m not even arsed. I’m not arsed about the money, I’m not arsed about anything. I’m there to obliterate you.”
Before Till’s and Fury’s interaction, KSI — who lost to Fury in 2023 and is now promoting the Fury vs. Till bout — took his own shot at the former “Love Island” star.
“He is working for me, he’s working under my organization,” KSI remarked of Fury, “Technically, I’m his dad. So I’m out here paying him, so he should appreciate that. That’s all I’ve said. Hopefully, he doesn’t get too upset about that. But he doesn’t really have many places to go. This is the best place in terms of crossover boxing, Misfits. And yeah, he has to accept that: I am his dad.”
“No comment at all,” Tommy Fury stated when asked to reply. “It’s about beating Darren Till. That mug [KSI] had his chance, he’s a beaten fellow.”
