Woods will also serve as the host of the tournament, as his Tiger Woods Foundation has run the event since it became an invitational in 2020.
The 2025 edition of the Genesis Invitational is scheduled for next week, running from Feb. 13 through Feb. 16.
Woods, 49, has played a limited schedule over the past several years due to numerous injuries, particularly to his back and knees.
Although he has won a record 82 PGA Tour tournaments and is second on the all-time major title list with 15, Tiger has not won a tournament of any kind since the 2019 Zozo Championship, which came six months after his shocking Masters win.
In recent years, Woods has only played in select tournaments, primarily focusing on majors above all else.
Since his 2019 Masters win, Woods has played in 14 majors, and he has either missed the cut or withdrawn from nine of them.
Last year, Tiger played in all four majors, but after a 60th-place finish in the Masters, he missed the cut at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship.
While Woods’ last significant tournament was the Open Championship back in July, he did team up with his son, Charlie Woods, in the PNC Championship back in December.
Tiger and Charlie nearly pulled out the victory in the event, forcing a playoff before falling to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason Langer.
Even more recently than that, Woods has played in the TGL simulated golf league he founded along with Rory McIlroy.
Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club is 1-1 on the season, losing to Collin Morikawa’s Los Angeles Golf Club before beating McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf.
While Woods is not expected to contend for the win in the Genesis Invitational, a strong performance could go a long way toward positioning him toward a quality result at the 2025 Masters in April.
