The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night 6-2. It was as good of a game as you can ask for from this group.
This season has been mostly difficult for the Blackhawks but they have played up to their competition. When they have the super elite opponents on the other side, they have found ways to stay in it and even win.
It only took 17 seconds for Taylor Hall to score the first goal of the game. Hall’s third of the season got the Blackhawks off on the right foot.
Just over five minutes of game clock later, Hall scored his second of the game to make it 2-0. He was on “hat trick watch” five minutes into the game.
The Blackhawks have enjoyed scoring goals in the first minute of periods. They did it again in the second as Connor Bedard broke out of his slump with a goal to make it 3-0.
Remarkably, Teuvo Teravainen scored to make it 4-0 just a few minutes after Bedard’s goal. All of the guys that you’d want to score got on the board. What came next was the story of the game.
After former Blackhawk Colin Blackwell scored to get Dallas on the board, Taylor Hall scored his third goal of the game for the hat trick. This was the fifth hat trick in the NHL career of Taylor Hall.
Hall has dealt with a lot in his career. There have been injuries, bad teams, and trades that have caused him to have these ups and downs. The former Hart Trophy winner certainly had his signature game with the Blackhawks in this one.
The good play didn’t end there for Chicago either. Louis Crevier scored his first career NHL goal at 13:18 of the second period. This quickly became a night to remember for a few players in this game.
In the third period, Matt Duchene scored a power-play goal for the Stars to make it 6-2. That would be the end of the scoring.
It was clear coming into this game that Chicago’s first line needed to have a big game to beat the Stars. Well, Taylor Hall scored three, and Connor Bedard scored one. That is the definition of a big game for a line that was just put together a couple of days ago.
Hall has been an elite player in the past and he’s still a talented player. Connor Bedard makes everyone better and Kurashev has enough skill to keep up. It might be wise to keep them together if you’re Luke Richardson.
There is a lot to be thankful for following a game like that. Now, the Hawks will look to come back from the holiday with a big win over the Minnesota Wild at Exel Energy Center.
