San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama made his first foray into acting on an episode of Futurama.

The 10th season of the animated series dropped on Hulu on Monday, with Wembanyama voicing a character in the premiere.

Per Jeff Garcia of KENS5 in San Antonio, Wembanyama voiced a basketball-playing alien named “Victor Wem-ben-yum-yum” and has a discussion with Bender, the robot, in which he half-heartedly tries to convince him that being tall isn’t everything.

Wembanyama’s appearance on the show was originally announced by Futurama showrunner David X. Coehn during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Basketball has occasionally featured into the plot of Futurama. The Harlem Globetrotters have appeared on six different episodes and three feature-length episodes since 2001.

Futurama marks the first acting role for Wembanyama. He has been featured in documentaries about his life on the court, including the Netflix documentary Court of Gold about the 2024 Olympic men’s basketball tournament.

Wembanyama’s cameo on the Hulu series is part of what is shaping up to be a big fall for the 21-year-old. The Spurs announced in July that he has been cleared him to return from the blood clot that ended his 2024-25 season prematurely.

The Spurs will open training camp on Sept. 29. They will tipoff the regular season against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 22 in a game pitting Wembanyama against 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg.
