Sint Truiden have announced that they are activating a purchase option that was agreed as part of the loan deal for Villarreal striker Andrés Ferrari. The 22-year-old from Uruguay may have only scored seven goals in 30 games, with most of those appearances coming off the bench, but some of the goals were eye catching. Clearly, with the likelihood that star striker Adriano Bertaccini will leave this summer, the Canaries are keen to see if Ferrari can develop even further. He departs the La Liga side without having made a senior appearance since joining from Defensor Sporting in the summer of 2023.

With a number of players out of contact this summer, the move to keep Ferrari should be the first of many that the side make ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign. They were slow to get things moving in the window last year and ended up fighting a relegation battle. They can ill afford a slow transfer window this time around. With a top coach in Wouter Vrancken at the helm, they need to put a squad in place capable of finishing in the play-off 2 positions.
