FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — It’s fitting Shane Lowry was the one who officially retained the Ryder Cup for Team Europe on Sunday.

The Irishman is one of the most passionate stars in the sport, and he had an epic celebration after birdieing the 18th hole Sunday in his singles match against Russell Henley to tie the match and earn the retaining half point in the 2025 Ryder Cup, giving the Europeans their first win on foreign soil since 2012.

Lowry admitted he pulled the putt a bit, but it still fell in the hole. Then the epic celebration ensued.

While being interviewed after his match, Shane Lowry called the Ryder Cup his everything as he tried to detail his feelings after en epic battle.

“I’ve been so lucky to experience amazing things in this game… that was the hardest couple of hours of my whole life, honestly. I just can’t believe that putt went in. I stood over it going, ‘This is it. I said to Darren (Reynolds) walking down 18 I have a chance to do the coolest thing in my life here.

“The Ryder Cup means everything to me,” he said. “I’ve won The Open in Ireland. It’s amazing, it’s a dream come true. But the Ryder Cup, for me, is everything.”

The Americans made a fiery charge Sunday afternoon at Bethpage Black, but Lowry ended any hope of an improbable comeback.
