Jauan Jennings’ future with the 49ers became a trending topic this week after the receiver reportedly gave the team an ultimatum regarding his contract.
Jennings wants a new contract with San Francisco or to be traded, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday, citing sources. And it appears it didn’t take long for teams around the league to make that call to the 49ers.
However, despite teams reaching out to San Francisco, per Schefter, the 49ers have no interest in parting ways with the 28-year-old.
“Several teams have already inquired about Jauan Jennings’ availability,” Schefter reported Wednesday on “NFL Live,” “but the 49ers said they have no desire in trading the wide receiver.”
Jennings, entering his fifth NFL season, already has approached the 49ers about his contract situation but “little progress has been made,” Schefter said. The NFL insider also added that if Jennings doesn’t have a new deal by the time the 49ers veterans report to training camp next Tuesday, the receiver will request a trade.
Last May, Jennings signed a two-year, $15.4 million 49ers contract through the 2025 NFL season, which included $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
The four-year pro had a career-best 2024 campaign, recording 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns while becoming the 49ers’ top wide receiver.
With Deebo Samuel now on the Washington Commanders, and both Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list ahead of training camp, Jennings is even more crucial to the 49ers’ offense than before.
And, as of now, it looks like the 49ers are well aware of that and plan on moving forward with Jennings on their roster.
