The GOAT of women’s tennis is back at Flushing Meadows. That’s right, make way for Serena Williams.
Serena Williams is no stranger to center court at the US Open — the 44-year-old holds the tournament’s Open Era women’s singles record with six titles. Further cementing her legacy, Williams has also won two doubles titles in New York alongside her sister Venus.
Williams has embarked on a comeback tour this year, but without an active WTA ranking, she cannot qualify for the singles draw. She did participate in mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz earlier this week, and it has been confirmed that she will continue doubles play with Venus in the main draw. The pair of sisters received a wild card bid on Wednesday.
