Sebastian Fundora has proven time and time again that he is one of the top boxers in the world today.

The reigning WBC super welterweight champion is set for an interesting title defense this Saturday vs. former unified champion Keith Thurman. The bout headlines a PBC Pay-Per-View on Prime Video card from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

During the pre-fight press conference on Thursday, “The Towering Inferno” made it known that he plans to put Thurman down early in the scheduled 12-round contest.

Sebastian Fundora plans to finish Keith Thurman early

“I definitely don’t see this going 12 rounds, but no matter how long it goes, it ends with me having my hand raised,” Fundora said. “We’re gonna have a great night on Saturday. Expect ‘The Towering Inferno’ to burn Las Vegas down once again.”

The 28-year-old Fundora has a record of 23-1-1 and will be looking for his fourth consecutive win since a loss to Brian Mendoza in 2023, who is also scheduled for action on the card.

Back in July 2025, Fundora stopped Tim Tszyu in the seventh round after finishing Chordale Booker in the fourth earlier that year. Of his 23 career wins, 15 have been stoppages.

“Thurman is one of my best opponents for sure,” Fundora said. “But I have to look at it like just another fight. I have to look at it as my job. This is work for me, and I just have to clock in on Saturday.”

Keith Thurman: Bout vs. Fundora has ‘been a long time coming’

Thurman acknowledged it has been a “beautiful build up to this fight.” He is a former unified welterweight world champion, as the 37-year-old owns a professional record of 31-1 with a no-contest.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “I’m facing a great champion and we’re gonna make it happen.”

While saying that, though, Thurman did get in his fight-night predictions.

“I’m here to hurt this boy,” he said. “I’m trying to send him home beltless. Fundora gets hit. He’s used to trading and going at it, but I’m here to put that fire out.”

Thurman opened his career by going unbeaten in 30 fights before a 2019 loss to Manny Pacquiao. He has competed just twice since, defeating Mario Barrios in 2022 and Brock Jarvis in March of last year.

The card also features Yoenis Tellez vs. Mendoza, Terrell Gausha vs. Yoenli Hernandez and Gurgen Hovhannisyan vs. Cesar Navarro.
