The Seattle Seahawks will definitely not have running back Zach Charbonnet for at least the next three games, but perhaps that will be all he’ll miss while on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Friday that they are working on a date for Charbonnet’s return to practice.

“Zach’s doing great,” Macdonald said. “We’re getting down to him possibly finding a date where he can start practicing again. That’s coming soon. When that exact date is, we haven’t finalized that yet, but it’s coming soon.”
Charbonnet started the season on the PUP list after tearing his ACL in the NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers. He’s seemingly had no setbacks in his rehab and recovery, and signs point to Charbonnet being back sooner rather than later.
The important thing to note for Charbonnet is just how soon he’s eligible to practice. Previously, players who were on PUP couldn’t have their 21-day practice window opened up until after they had missed four games. Now, Charbonnet can return to practice as early as the start of Week 3 against the Washington Commanders, giving him as much as a two-week ramp-up before Week 5 versus, of all teams, the San Francisco 49ers.
Charbonnet led the Seahawks in touchdowns scored last regular season, notching a career-high 12 on the ground. His 730 yards was also the best of his career.
Jadarian Price may get the headlines as the exciting first-round rookie, but a looming Charbonnet return will be a welcome addition to Seattle’s remade backfield.
