Scottie Scheffler produced some truly scintillating golf on Friday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Scheffler has experienced a strange season on the PGA Tour in 2026, with just one win to his name so far.

However, the 30-year-old world number one has been the best and most consistent player, with 11 top-5s to his name in 17 starts, including five runner-up finishes.
Scottie Scheffler is sitting at the top of the FedEx St. Jude Championship leaderboard heading into the weekend, with a three-stroke advantage over Viktor Hovland and Sungjae Im.
Scheffler’s 61 was his 11th round of nine-under or better on the PGA Tour since 2020, more than any other player.

Scottie Scheffler’s five lowest ever PGA Tour rounds
59 (-12): 2020 Northern Trust, round 2 at TPC Boston
The world number one’s best ever round came at TPC Boston during The Northern Trust back in 2020.
Scheffler posted a 59 on day two in Boston, but he finished in a tie for fourth after accompanying his 59 with rounds of 70, 67 and 71.
60 (-10): 2026 Travelers Championship, round 2 at TPC River Highlands.

Scheffler’s majestic round of 60 on day two of the Travelers Championship came earlier this year.
However, it wasn’t enough as Viktor Hovland ended up beating the world number one in a sudden death playoff.
61 (-10): 2025 CJ CUP Byron Nelson, round 1 at TPC Craig Ranch
Scheffler burst out of the blocks on day one of the CJ CUP Byron Nelson last year, shooting 61 in his opening round.
The 30-year-old went on to win what was his 14th PGA Tour title at the time, defeating second-placed Erik van Rooyen by eight strokes.

Scheffler’s 61 at TPC Southwind on Friday was a truly remarkable display of golf.

He made two bogeys as well, so it could very easily have been another sub-60 round for him on another day. It remains to be seen whether Scheffler’s 61 will lead him to his first PGA Tour win since January.
Scottie Scheffler is well-versed in going low
The Texan’s fifth lowest career score is a 62.
He has shot it plenty of times throughout his PGA Tour career, eight times in fact, including his final round at the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
Scheffler’s most recent rounds of 62 came just last year at the Texas Children’s Houston Open and the Travelers Championship.
In those two events, Scheffler finished in a tie for second and a tie for sixth respectively.

It will be interesting to see whether Scottie Scheffler is able to convert his fourth-lowest career round into a victory this weekend at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
His game is certainly in great shape right now and if he does win at TPC Southwind, he will surely be the frontrunner in the PGA Tour Player of the Year race.
