Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer in the world.

There are a lot of reasons for that, but Scheffler provided some more evidence on Thursday at the Genesis Scottish Open.
Standing over a putt, Scheffler was shown live on the television broadcast, and a suggested “aim line” was put onto the screen.
The suggestion was that Scheffler should direct his putt left of the hole so it would break down toward the cup and in.
Scheffler proceeded to putt in an entirely different direction, shooting it right and seeing it swerve its way into the hole that way.
There’s no way to know whether the “aim line” would’ve worked, too — but Scheffler showed he had his own quality line happening right inside his own head:
Scottie ended up having a decent opening round. He shot a 2-under 68, which had him in the top-30 after one day of work.

Scheffler, with an appropriate first name for the Scottish Open, wasn’t always a great putter, but when he elevated that part of his game, he solidified his standing even more as the world’s best player.
He’s tough to beat when he’s making his putts.
