Scottie Scheffler leads PGA Tour money leaders in The Memorial field

The PGA Tour’s leading earner is the only player keeping it from being perfect attendance in The Memorial field for players among the top 30. 

Rory McIlroy, who heads the money list with nearly $14 million, is opting out of the Tour’s Signature Event, which begins on May 29 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. He presumably will make his next start in the U.S. Open at Oakmont June 12-15. 

But starting with No. 2 Scottie Scheffler (who’s also the defending champion in The Memorial), every player among the money leaders through No. 38 Bud Cauley is playing this week, for a $20 million purse and $4 million for the winner. 

In addition, 46 of the top 50 players on the money list are playing in the tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus, and 52 of the top 60. 

McIlroy’s lead is safe over every player in the field except for Scheffler, who is $3,419,643 behind and can ascend to the top with a victory. McIlroy is nearly $5.3 million ahead of No. 3 Justin Thomas.
