Scottie Scheffler is one of the PGA Tour’s two biggest stars, alongside Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler has been the best and most consistent golfer in the world over the past few years.
The 29-year-old world number one has 20 PGA Tour wins to his name, including an impressive four major championships.

Scheffler is just starting to rediscover his best form on the PGA Tour. Of course, he won his first event of the season but then struggled to find his best form over the next two months.
Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour success is borne from his hard work, and there aren’t many in the game who put in more hours away from the golf course, if any at all.

The 29-year-old has genuine greatness in his sights now, as he looks to build on his already elite record in the game.
However, in order to keep progressing, he will have to make some very difficult decisions along the way, much like the one he has just made.

Scottie Scheffler gives the PGA Tour a major headache
Scheffler is one of the PGA Tour’s main selling points.
Fans and sponsors adore the world number one and with that in mind, the PGA Tour will be bitterly disappointed with his latest decision.
According to Golf.com journalist Sean Zak, Scheffler has decided to skip the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow in two weeks’ time.
That decision should not surprise anybody but it has come at the worst possible time for the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler faced an impossible decision when the 2026 PGA Tour schedule was announced.
Starting with the Cadillac Championship next week, there are six tournaments in a row, including three Signature Events and a major championship, that all mean the world to the 29-year-old.

Something had to give. He clearly wouldn’t be competing for six straight weeks.

And Scheffler has clearly made the decision that the Truist Championship is one tournament he will have to sit out.
Scottie Scheffler proves the PGA Tour schedule must change
It wouldn’t be surprising if he chooses to skip the Charles Schwab Challenge either because, if he doesn’t, he will be playing four tournaments in a row.
This part of the PGA Tour schedule definitely needs looking at.
How can we have three Signature Events between The Masters and the PGA Championship without both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in the field in any of them?
It’s not right. The PGA Tour schedule is too front-loaded with Signature Events and they should be more evenly dispersed throughout the season.

Scheffler’s decision not to play in the Truist Championship will have given the PGA Tour a real headache, especially with McIlroy not committing to the Cadillac Championship the week before.
The model is quite clearly broken and Brian Rolapp needs to change that moving forward.
