Omni La Costa is hosting the NCAA mens and womens golf championships for a second year in a row. The North Course’s 15th hole is a challenging par 4.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — It’s down to two teams who have a chance to win the national championship.
Match play began Tuesday morning at the 2025 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, and after the longest day in college golf, only top-ranked Stanford and No. 11 Northwestern remain with a chance to win the title. Stanford knocked off Florida State in the semifinals while Northwestern knocked off Oregon.
Stanford is looking to win its second straight national championship while Northwestern is looking for its first title in school history.

It’ll be the Northwestern Wildcats advancing to the national championship match Wednesday, where they’ll take on Stanford. Dianna Lee beats Kiara Romero 2 up to get the final point for Northwestern.
It’s the second time Northwestern has made the championship match, falling against Arizona State in 2017.
One match left on the course. Dianna Lee is 2 up against Oregon’s Kiara Romero, and the winner will send their tam to the title match
After Lottie Woad lipped out a birdie putt, Megha Ganne responded and buried a birdie putt to send the defending national champions back to the title match Wednesday. Ganne had seven birdies in 20 holes to top the world’s No. 1 amateur.
Not to forget the second semifinal, Northwestern and Oregon have each got a point on the board. Tong An got the point for Oregon, and Ashley Yun added a tally for Northwestern.
For Florida State, both Lottie Woad and Mirabel Ting are in extra holes. If either player loses, Stanford advances to the championship match. Woad is facing Megha Ganne and Ting taking on Andrea Revuelta.

In the second match of the day, each team leads two matches and the fifth is tied. The final group is on the ninth hole, meaning it’s time for some separation for the teams trying to get into the championship match.
The first point is on the board in the afternoon. Stanford sophomore Paula Martin Sampedro gets a 5-and-3 win for the Cardinal, which lead in one match but trail in three others to Florida State.
Shortly after, Kelly Xu picked up a 5-and-4 triumph to give Stanford two points, needing one more to advance to the NCAA Championship.
One of the best shots of the day comes on the difficult par-3 eighth, courtesy of Stanford freshman Andrea Revuelta. She hits one tight, but Florida State’s Mirabel Ting responds and buries her 10-foot birdie putt to halve the hole.
Four matches are tied, with Stanford leading the fifth, in the first matchup on the course. In Northwestern-Oregon, the final pairing just teed off, but both teams lead one match and are tied in two others.

We’re off in the semifinals. Mirabel Ting and Sophia Fulbrook have taken early 1-up leads, but Stanford also trailed early in multiple matches and still won. Meanwhile, Stanford leads in only one match, where Megha Ganne is 1 up against Lottie Woad.
The other two matches are tied.

How many teams made match play at NCAA Women’s Golf Championship?
Eight. After Monday’s final round of stroke play, the top eight teams advance to match play, which begins Tuesday morning with the quarterfinals.
NCAA Women’s Golf Championship format
Finals play for both championships consists of three days of stroke play on Friday through Sunday (54 holes), after which the top-15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play (Monday) to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format that will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
