Sam Burns’ Wife Caroline Opens Up About Private Life With US Open Golfer originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Sam Burns’ wife Caroline Burns and the couple’s son Bear are at the center of the PGA Tour golfer’s pursuit of the U.S. Open title at Oakmont. Sam’s wife has been journeying with him long before the golfer was competing at majors.

Caroline and Sam were originally childhood friends but time brought them back together at the right time. Less than 24 hours before his final round at the U.S. Open, Sam was candid about the opportunity to play in front of his family on Father’s Day.

“We were joking with the Schefflers yesterday afternoon, we were out in the yard, and the boys, no clothes on, just playing in the little splash pad, having the time of their lives. We were like, what did we do before that?” Sam told reporters on Saturday.

After the couple got engaged in 2019, Caroline gave WJCL News a rare look into their private life just a few months before their Dec. wedding. Caroline revealed that she was Sam’s first valentine when the golfer was five years old.

“We grew up in the same hometown but went to different schools and so we didn’t start dating until college,” Caroline remarked in the 2019 interview. “But (we have) really known each other forever and… I was his first valentine when we were five years old. So, that’s our sweet story.”

As for a potential win on Father’s Day, Sam could not imagine anything better, but the golfer is simply enjoying playing in front of his wife and kids on a national stage.

“… But it’s so much fun,” Sam added. “There’s nothing better for me getting home after a long day and seeing Bear and Caroline and getting to hang out with them and just, I enjoy it so much, and to have a chance to win on Father’s Day would be really cool.”
