The 2025 PGA Tour schedule is expected to continue this weekend at the Philadelphia Cricket Club for the 2025 Truist Open, a tournament that 2025 Masters Champion Rory McIlroy has mastered in recent years.
This weekend’s tournament leads up to the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina the following week.
McIlroy won the Truist Open in 2021 and 2024 and is the odds-on favorite to win this weekend’s event at +450 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
On Tuesday, reports surfaced of an interaction between Spieth and McIlroy that took place during a practice round, including a compliment and intriguing PGA Championship prediction from the McIlroy that Spieth did not seem to fully accept.
“Jordo (Jordan Spieth) just congratulated Rory on the Masters/Grand Slam win and Rory said it would be his turn next week,” Golf.com writer Jack Hirsh wrote on X.
“Yeah, at Rory McIlroy Country Club…” Spieth reportedly replied, referencing the upcoming Quail Hollow based event.
McIlroy has won four times at the course during his career.
Experts say Quail Hollow is set up for McIlroy to take advantage of his powerful drives off the tee box.

Spieth has yet to win a PGA Championship since his tour debut at the 2010 AT&T Byron Nelson Championship.
McIlroy skipped the Byron Nelson Classic this past weekend to rest after his grueling win in the Masters, which marked his third win of the season along with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship.
“Love the camaraderie between Jordo and Rory!” one fan said in response, with another predicting a potential showdown between the two on the PGA Championship’s final day next week.
