Bryson DeChambeau emerged the winner on Sunday at the LIV Golf Singpore event, claiming his fourth career LIV title in a playoff at Sentosa Golf Club. But the outcome of this tournament will be remembered more for heartbreaking way Richard T. Lee finished second.
Playing as a wildcard in the event and entering the fourth and final round one shot off the lead, Lee rallied to make four birdies on his final six holes to shoot a Sunday six-under 66 and take the clubhouse lead at 14 under par. The 35-year-old Canadian was matched when DeChambeau made birdie on his final hole to close out a 66 of his own.

On the first playoff hole, DeChambeau hit his tee shot in the water, seemingly opening the door for Lee to claim his first LIV title since earning membership in LIV Golf Promotions in January.
But Lee took a conservative approach on the par-5 18th, which gave him a 10-foot birdie try to win as DeChambeau was getting up-and-down for par. Only Lee raced that putt by and faced this a short par putt to push the playoff to a second hole, only to stumble.
“I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard,” Lee said. “I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit. Then again, I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully next week I can try again.”
DeChambeau, normally not one to have trouble speaking his mind, was noticeable stunned by the outcome.

“What a day, that was crazy,” said the two-time major winner.
“Incredible relief,” DeChambeau eventually went on to say. “I haven’t won in four rounds since the U.S. Open 2024. Being able to come through on a golf course like this that’s super brutal and demands precision on every single shot, especially with the conditions changing, I couldn’t be more happy for my team.”
Despite the finish, Lee’s second-place showing was the best ever by a wildcard in LIV Golf history, besting a T-12 performance by Anthony Kim.
“[A win] would change a lot in my life, with my family,” said Lee entering the final round, his three previous LIV results T-13, T-37 and T-18 earning him a little less than $700,000. “Yeah, just playing with these guys in this big league, I think it would be a great honor to win.”

Lee took home $2.25 million for finishing second, the most money he’s ever earned in any single golf tournament.
Searching for an all-time best eighth LIV victory, Joaquin Niemann entered the final round with the lead for the fifth time in his career. The four previous times he closed things out for the title. But a final-round 71 left him three out of the playoff, behind DeChambeau, Lee and Lee Westwood.
