Who will card a 61 today at the 2026 Rocket Classic? After Peter Malnati got the party started with a 9-under first round, Cameron Young shot up from the cut line into first place by nearly setting the course record himself in Round 2.
Like Malnati, the 2026 Players champion and No. 2 golfer in the FedEx Cup standings blasted off over the front nine with seven birdies. At 10 under, he sits atop the leaderboard to start the third round with Patrick Fishburn and Patrick Cantlay seeking his third victory this season.

Rickie Fowler comes into moving day a stroke behind, even with Matt Wallace. Eight players, including Malnati, Xander Schauffele and Ryan Gerard, sit two back, while no fewer than 30 players are within four shots of the lead. Even Si Woo Kim and Tony Finau, closer to the cut line than the lead, are among the dozens still in play in Detroit.
