George Kambosos Jr. heads back to where it all started as he looks to become a champion again. The Aussie returns to Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater on June 14 to challenge Richardson Hitchins for the IBF super lightweight title.
Hitchins (18-0) had a statement-making win against Gustavo Lemos last April. He went from competing on undercards to beating Liam Paro in December to win the IBF title.
Born in Brooklyn, Hitchins is ready to make this fight a homecoming to remember at the expense of Kambosos.
“George Kambosos is not on my level. Never has been, never will be. He’s talked himself into this fight, and now he’s going to pay the price for running his mouth,” Hitchins said. “He had the biggest win of his career and crowning moment in this building, and on June 14, I end his career in that same building.”

Kambosos (22-3) fought at the Hulu Theater in 2021, beating Teofimo Lopez to become the unified lightweight champion. He has gone 2-3 in his last five fights since then and is 1-1 in his previous two. “Ferocious” beat Jake Wyllie in March, his first fight in a year.
Now in a new division, Kambosos looks to make history in the Hulu Theater once again.
“I stand 2-0 at Madison Square Garden, the world’s most famous arena, and on June 14, I will make it 3-0 when I rip Hitchins’ belt off him and break his will, take his heart and ruin his undefeated career,” Kambosos said.
