Connor Zilisch now ten wins this year alone, giving him a huge cushion for the start of the penultimate round of the playoffs.
But while Zilisch captured the checkered flag at the Charlotte Roval, four more drivers fell out of title contention. They were Taylor Gray, Austin Hill, Nick Sanchez, and Harrison Burton. Gray's elimination was particularly painful, as the race ended under caution and he missed out by a single point to Sammy Smith, who was the final driver to move on.
Thanks to Smith's narrow advancement, JR Motorsports now holds four of the final eight spots in the driver's championship playoffs. Haas Factory Team has two, while Joe Gibbs Racing and Richard Childress Racing have one each.
Allgaier, who made his 500th start on Saturday, remains firmly in the running for the title as he seeks to defend his 2024 championship.
