Having locked down Esteban Lepaul to a new deal, Stade Rennais are looking to add to their forward line this summer, ahead of a return to European football. They have set their sights on Sunderland’s Eliezer Mayenda (21), as per a report from L’Équipe.

Lepaul’s extension at Rennes was confirmed last week. The Frenchman had been heavily linked with a move away (notably to Napoli and Atletico Madrid), but Ligue 1’s top scorer from last season will remain with the Ligue 1 side. There are, however, doubts pertaining to the future of Breel Embolo, under contract until 2029 but no longer a first-choice option.

And in the meantime, Les Rennais are looking to add to their attacking arsenal. There are talks ongoing between Rennes and Sunderland regarding the transfer of Spanish forward Mayenda. However, he would not come cheaply. The Spain youth international, under contract with the Black Cats until 2030, is valued at €25m.
