Joey Logano is now at three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
Logano had to hold off Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney in the final laps to win the race. Logano won the first stage on Sunday and led 107 laps to win the race. Blaney chased down Christopher Bell and made a pass with seven laps left in the second stage to win it.
Logano beat Blaney, William Byron and Tyler Reddick for the championship.

Ryan Blaney has chased down his teammate, Joey Logano, for the race lead and for the championship. Blaney is on Logano’s bumper.
Blaney is running the outside line, which he has done in traffic all day, to try and pass Logano late.
Lap 299: Logano’s lead dwindling, Ryan Blaney chasing
Ryan Blaney has cut a 2.3-second lead down to just over a half-second to his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano.
Lap 289: William Byron, Ryan Blaney fighting for second
Joey Logano has pulled out to a 2.3-second lead but Ryan Blaney and William Byron are fighting for the second position. Blaney passed Byron in turn 3 and is now running down his Team Penske teammate late in the race.
Lap 277: Ryan Blaney gets past Kyle Larson after tough battle
After a long battle with Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney got past Kyle Larson to move into third place. He made the move in the dogleg at the start-finish line. He is over three seconds behind race leader Joey Logano. William Byron runs second, just under two seconds behind Logano.

Ryan Blaney is running fourth behind Joey Logano and William Byron in the top two spots and Kyle Larson in third. Larson is blocking Blaney while racing hard.
Lap 260: Joey Logano takes lead from William Byron
Joey Logano dove hard through the dogleg and passed William Byron for the lead and has pulled ahead by five carlengths.
Logano restarted fifth and the drivers are racing each other hard through the field.
Lap 259: William Byron leads field back to green
William Byron, after taking the lead under caution, leads the field back to green with just over 50 laps to go.
Lap 253: William Byron takes race lead under caution, rest of Championship 4 pits
William Byron will take an advantage of track position, but the rest of the Championship 4 will pit under the caution to take new tires.
Lap 251: Zane Smith spins, brings out fourth caution
William Byron had just pitted under the green flag. Then Zane Smith cut a tire smacked the outside wall to bring out the second caution under race conditions, and fourth overall.
Kyle Larson leads and Ryan Blaney is the top driver of the Championship 4, running fourth.

William Byron is running long on the green flag pit cycle, hoping for a caution flag. Ryan Blaney rejoined the track in front of Joey Logano after the green flag pit stop. Christopher Bell is anticipated to cycle back to the lead if the race stays green with Ryan Blaney a close second and potentially the lead driver of the Championship 4.

Ryan Blaney chased down Joey Logano and passed him on the inside of turn 3 to take the top spot among Championship 4 drivers. Blaney now runs second as the teams are making green flag pit stops.

Joey Logano passed Ryan Blaney for second place and runs second to Christopher Bell with 100 laps to go at Phoenix. Logano leads the Championship 4 drivers, who all currently run in the top 5.

Christopher Bell leads the field to green with Ryan Blaney second to begin the final stage of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Lap 189: Christopher Bell beats Ryan Blaney in race off pit road
The poor starting position and pit stall selection is affecting Ryan Blaney, having started 17th today. Blaney had a 9.6-second stop but was beat by Christopher Bell over the line.
William Byron beat Joey Logano off the pit lane to flip the two drivers.

Ryan Blaney took the lead late in the stage and earned the stage win after his pass against Christopher Bell. Blaney has led eight laps today.

Lap 179: Ryan Blaney takes lead from Christopher Bell
Ryan Blaney started running the outside line, which generates more grip in the tires and the ability to get back into the gas sooner, and made the pass against Christopher Bell with seven laps left in the second stage.
Lap 165: Ryan Blaney close to Christopher Bell for lead at Phoenix
Ryan Blaney has cut a 2.2-second Christopher Bell lead down to under a half-second near the end of stage 2. Blaney is running the preferred line on the inside of the racetrack, even driving below the yellow line (which is allowed), while Bell fights with lapped traffic.
Lap 153: Joey Logano passes William Byron for third at Phoenix
Joey Logano and William Byron fought for a handful of laps for third place. Logano made a skilled move, utilizing his momentum from a great exit off turn 4 to make a move on the inside of turn 2 to get past Byron. Logano now runs third behind Blaney, who is running down Christopher Bell for the lead.
Lap 140: Joey Logano’s jackman not feeling well, Austin Cindric’s jackman moves to No. 22 team
One of the crew members on Joey Logano’s team, the jackman, is not feeling well and is being transported by golf cart by the AMR Safety Team. There’s no clear reason as to what he’s dealing with. The jackman from Austin Cindric’s team was moved to the No. 22 pit and the jackman from Harrison Burton’s No. 21 team, Wood Brothers Racing is a sister team to Team Penske, was moved to the No. 2 pit.
Lap 136: Christopher Bell cycles back to lead after pit stops
After a clean cycle of green flag pit stops, Christopher Bell goes back to the lead. Ryan Blaney runs second with William Byron running third and Joey Logano running fourth. Tyler Reddick runs ninth.
Lap 116: Denny Hamlin starts green flag pit stops in second stage at Phoenix
Green flag pit stops have started at Phoenix Raceway for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix. Justin Haley left his pit box and slightly cut off Joey Logano. Other than that, no major issues on pit road for this cycle.
Lap 100: Christopher Bell continues to lead at Phoenix, Blaney leads title drivers
After being taken out of the playoffs last week at Martinsville, Bell has led the last 33 laps and is pulling away from the field. Ryan Blaney made a move on Chase Elliott on the outside of turn 3 to take the second spot, just over two seconds behind Bell.

Christopher Bell has taken the lead after starting the second stage on the front row with Chase Elliott. Ryan Blaney leads the Championship 4 drivers.
Lap 69: Pace car hits barrels, brings out red flag at NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race
The pace car was late getting on to pit road before the restart to begin the second stage of Sunday’s race and slid into the barrels which provide protection to the end of the inside wall on the racetrack.
When the car hit the barrels, sand from inside littered the pit lane. The crew at the track has gotten the sand cleared away and the cars are refired.
Lap 64: Joey Logano drops spots in race off pit road, Chase Elliott takes lead at Phoenix
In the first pit stops of the race, Joey Logano dropped four spots coming off pit road and now runs fifth, and third among the Championship 4 drivers. William Byron is third and the top Championship 4 driver as Chase Elliott leads the race.
Lap 60: Joey Logano holds off Martin Truex Jr., wins first stage at Phoenix
Joey Logano has won the opening stage of Sunday’s race at Phoenix. Martin Truex Jr. was close to Logano’s rear bumper in the closing laps of the stage. All of the Championship 4 drivers are in the top 10 after the race’s first 60 laps.
Ryan Blaney and Tyler Reddick fought hard in the final 20 laps of the stage, with Blaney making a pass in turn 3 to finally get past Reddick.

Lap 2: Ty Gibbs slaps into wall, crashes out of NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix
Ty Gibbs appeared to cut a right-side tire coming out of turn 4 then slapped the outside wall in the dogleg to bring out the race’s first caution. He got loose near the start-finish line then hit the wall hard. The car was pointed at the wall but he got it turned away before he got into the wall.

What to watch for in NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix
Cars will be running all over the racetrack, even the paved dogleg below the starting line. The speed into the corners will be slow, but drivers should be able to get back into the throttle quickly for quick drive out of the corners.
The drivers will be side-by-side quite often. Anticipate to see a lot of contact between drivers, especially when the race is nearing the end.
