Real Madrid are set for a massive managerial change in June, with Jose Mourinho now linked as the prime candidate to take over at the club.
After all, the team did not enjoy great runs under either of the two previous managers – Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa – with the players seemingly dominating the dressing room over the manager in both cases.

A lot of the blame, needless to say, has been deflected onto the players by the media, and fans across the globe now seem to have understood that the egos in the dressing room are a bigger problem than initially expected.
Real Madrid, however, see it differently.
Manager’s fault
Indeed, as reported by Onda Cero in a recent update, Real Madrid’s administration and hierarchy believe that the problem is not with the squad but with the managers.
They firmly stand by their idea that the problem this season has been the lack of authority from both Alonso and Arbeloa, which gave the squad the chance to take the upper hand.

Such a situation, they insist, should have been foreseen and prevented by the coaches by exercising more authority behind the scenes, and they thus paint a weak image of both tacticians.
While Arbeloa may indeed have been a manager to simply please the administrators and players, it appears wrong to place the same tag on Alonso.
After all, the club legend arrived with the idea of transforming the team and rewarding merit and hard work, but was drawn into dressing room politics by the players.
When the time came to choose between him and the players, Florentino Perez and Co. conveniently opted for the dressing room support and booted Alonso out.

To claim the manager did not have the spine when the board itself did not have the spine to back him, needless to say, is quite ironic.
It remains to be seen, however, if the results this season have changed their perspective.
