The L.A. Rams signed Zech McPhearson during training camp, mostly to add competition on special teams, but the cornerback failed to make the roster and was placed on injured reserve. That place on the team came to an end on Saturday, as the Rams released McPhearson days before their first game of the season.
McPhearson, 28, missed the second preseason game and never returned. He was previously a fourth-round pick of the Eagles and was cut ahead of his fourth season in 2024. The Rams still have six players remaining on injured reserve.
