The Cowboys gave up two high draft picks to get Quinnen Williams from the Jets. The defensive lineman still has two years left on the four-year, $96 million deal he signed in 2019, but the Cowboys didn’t give up what they gave up for 2 1/2 seasons of Williams.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Tuesday that the team wants to begin contract extension talks with Williams’ representation during training camp.

“He’s at the top of our list,” Jones said.
After 6 1/2 seasons in New York, Williams has found a home in Dallas. He would like nothing better than to make it his final stop.
“I definitely want to be here for the long haul,” Williams said Wednesday, via Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News. “I definitely would love being here for the long haul, but I want to win, and that’s really the only thing I’m focused on is winning and getting this defense into the groove where we can win football games for this team.”
His price likely went up after Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter recently signed a four-year, $152 million deal following Jeffery Simmons’ three-year, $105.8 million extension with the Titans.

“It’s pretty cool to see the guys get paid,” Williams said.
Williams didn’t know that the Cowboys had preliminary talks with his agent this offseason. He reiterated that he is focused only on helping the Cowboys win.
