The 2024 fall season has come to a close for boys golf.

Earlier this week, on Monday and Tuesday, the CHSAA hosted its state golf championships for Class 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A at various locations across the state.

Pueblo sent a total of eight golfers to the finals across three classes 2A-4A.

Here is a recap of each of the golfer’s outings at the state finals and how they got there.

Class 2A

The Rye Thunderbolts sent a total of three golfers to the state tournament in Class 2A. They competed at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden.

Branson Burbidge, Pierce Burris and Kade Kenney represented the Thunderbolts at the state tournament. Burbidge shot an 87 at regionals to make it to state, Burris shot 89 and Kenney shot 94 to qualify.

At Golden, Burbidge finished with the best score out of the Thunderbolts trio, with a 91 on Day 1 and 90 on Day 2 to finish with an 181 grand score and +36 for the tournament.

Burris shot 105 and 93 to finish with 198 and Kenney was 100 and 105 on his two days.

Class 3A

Pueblo East sent two golfers to the state finals and Pueblo Centennial sent one.

The Eagles were represented by Cooper Simmons and Jayden Padilla. Simmons got to the state finals by shooting 85 and Padilla scored an 80 at the regional tournament held at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez.

The Class 3A state finals were held here in Pueblo at Walking Stick Golf Course. Padilla finished the two-day tournament with scores of 78 and 81, respectively, totaling 159 which or +15 overall. Simmons finished ahead of Padilla with scores of 75 and 80, respectively, totaling 155 good for +11 for the tournament and 26th place.

The lone representative for the Bulldogs was Alex Navarette. The junior qualified for the finals by shooting an 84 and finishing in 11th place at regionals. In the state finals, Navarette finishes his two days with 90 and 91 scores totaling 181 and +37.

Class 4A

In Class 4A, Pueblo West was the lone school to send golfers to the state finals.

Parker Shaw and Jacob Valdez qualified for state after advancing from the regional rounds at Foothills Golf Course in Denver. Shaw finished tied for second at the regionals with a score of 78 and Valdez was ninth with a score of 80.

They both played at the two-day state tournament at Tiara Rado Golf Course. Shaw finished the highest out of any Pueblo golfer with a score of 76 and 71, respectively, totaling 147 and +5 for the competition. Shaw finished in fourth place overall in the state. Valdez finish with scores of 80 and 83 totaling 163 and a +21 overall.
