Scottie Scheffler is turning a new page.

The professional golfer celebrated his 30th birthday on June 21, and when asked how he feels about the age, he answered with a lighthearted comment about his hairline.

“Sometimes I feel old, sometimes I feel young. My hair has been receding for years, so 30 is not going to have any effect on that,” he told a reporter ahead of the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open in North Berwick, Scotland.

Scheffler, who is a dad of two, also joked that when he looks in the mirror, he thinks, “Dang, I’m getting old,” but other than that, he hasn’t had much time to “sit around” after completing the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., and reflect on the last decade of his life.

He has, however, had time to soak in the joyous moments of fatherhood. Because while Scheffler — who is married to wife Meredith — may be busy being the world’s No. 1 golfer, he’s also focused on being No. 1 dad to his kids.

“It’s just amazing to see how far our lives have come, and now we have two little ones. . . . It’s a bit surreal,” the Texas-bred golfer and dad to sons Bennett, 2, and Remy, born March 2026, told PEOPLE in an exclusive June interview done at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament in McKinney, Texas. “When you date in high school, you never really know how things are going to work out.”

At the time, the athlete said he was most excited to fill his days with the “normal stuff.”

“Immediately when the season ends, the first thing I want to do is just spend the time at home,” he said. “Bennett is hilarious. He’s just your typical little boy—he loves cars and trucks and dirt. He loves golf, he loves sports, and I look forward to just being able to be there and experience those things with him.”

As for his littlest? Scheffler simply treasures “just getting a little smile and helping him fall asleep. When they’re that age and they fall asleep on you, it’s the greatest,” he said.
