The 2026 Players Championship doesn’t need any extra juice this week. Like every year, we’ll see arguably the single most competitive field in golf with a bevy of subplots (can Scottie shake off those Thursday jitters, will Rory repeat, Brooks! Back!) to keep an eye on. There also seems to be renewed fervor around the “should the Players be the fifth major?” debate as new PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp continues to shake up golf’s soda can. But just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Skratch’s Dan Rapaport went ahead and dropped this little bombshell on us.

That’s right, folks. For ONE WEEK ONLY, caddie Geno Bonnalie will return to Joel Dahmen’s bag, officially reuniting every golf fan’s favorite duo.
Last summer, after more than a decade together, Dahmen and Bonnalie announced an amicable split. Dahmen’s statement on the break up alone was enough to give an entire room full of grown men a sudden “allergy attack.”

The pair had been through thick and thin together—from Bonnalie’s treasured motel reviews to Dahmen’s struggles with alcohol—so the news came as surprise to many. Thankfully, both appear to have landed on their feet. Dahmen had a tough finish to 2025 season that put his PGA Tour status in very real jeopardy, but has had a much-improved start to 2026, sitting just outside of the FedEx Cup top 50 after posting top tens at the Farmers Insurance Open and Cognizant Classic. Bonnalie, meanwhile, has been looping full-time for Isaiah Salinda.

We don’t know whether the pair will turn back the clock at TPC Sawgrass or remember why they chose to end their partnership in the first place, but whatever happens, here’s hoping they provide one or two more classic Joel-Geno moments along the way.
