It was a jubilant night for RC Lens on Friday, as they lifted the Coupe de France for the first time in the club’s history. It was Pierre Sage, appointed last summer, who has been the architect of the club’s success, not only leading them to glory in the Coupe de France, but also securing a second-place finish in Ligue 1, which ensures that they will be competing in the UEFA Champions League once again next season.
However, whilst there is plenty to look forward to from a Lens point of view, there is perhaps cause for some concern. Last Tuesday, Sage said that the “idea was to stay” at Lens for next season. However, speaking after the win over OGC Nice in the Coupe de France final on Friday (3-1), he cast doubt over his continuation at the Ligue 1 club.

“There is no reason for that (the situation around his future) to evolve. But there are lots of contacts. I am under contract and I will try to honour it. I am very happy at this club,” he told beIN Sports.
As per a report from L’Équipe, one of those interested parties is Crystal Palace, who are in the market for a replacement for Oliver Glasner. Crystal Palace are one of several European clubs interested in the Frenchman.
