PGA Tour Golfer Shockingly Withdraws Before First Round of the ISCO Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The ISCO Championship teed off Thursday morning, marking a new chapter for the PGA Tour’s annual stop in Kentucky. Now hosted at Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, the event features a full 156-player field and a solid local turnout, including several St. Xavier High School alums.
Early in the day, Chan Kim jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a blistering 5-under front nine, while Trevor Cone, Matt NeSmith, and Thomas Rosenmueller followed close behind at 4-under. These standings, of course, are just momentary as play continues.
But just before the opening round began, PGA Tour pro Anders Albertson withdrew from the tournament.
No reason has been provided for his sudden withdraw. William McGirt replaced him in the field, teeing off at 2:11 p.m. ET from the 10th tee. Robert Streb, who was first alternate, has also now withdrawn, along with Sung Kang.

Despite the early shake-ups, excitement remains high around Hurstbourne, especially with its debut as the host venue. Meanwhile, the Scottish Open is unfolding across the pond, where world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler sits three shots off the lead after a first-round 67.
Scheffler began his round with an eagle on the 10th but found the wind to be a consistent challenge. He’s in a marquee group with defending champ Robert MacIntyre and Adam Scott MacIntyre carded a 68, while Scott posted a 69.
Back in Kentucky, the ISCO Championship rolls on, with the leaderboard bound to keep shifting as more players wrap up their rounds on this brand-new course.
