The Ryder Cup is coming and while it’s still a few weeks away, the anticipation for the bienniel bash at Bethpage is building.

There’s a few members of the European Ryder Cup team competing in the DP World Tour’s Amgen Irish Open, allowing for some final competitive prep. Meanwhile, 10 of the 12 Americans on Team USA will be at the PGA Tour’s Procore Championship next week.

On Saturday, about an hour from Bethpage at Yankee Stadium, Don Rea, president of the PGA of America, the organization that puts on the Ryder Cup, threw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Yankees home game against the Toronto Blues.

Rea, a PGA Master Professional, was elected president of the PGA of America at the association’s annual meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last November. He’s the 44th president of the PGA and is serving a two-year term.
