With the team set to embark on a three-game Western road swing, the Pittsburgh Penguins made a goaltending swap.

On Monday, the Penguins recalled goaltender Tristan Jarry from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (WBS) – Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate – and optioned rookie goaltender Joel Blomqvist to WBS.

Jarry – who was waived on Jan. 15 by the Penguins and subsequently re-assigned to WBS – was also sent to WBS on a conditioning loan after struggling at the NHL level to start the 2024-25 season. Across 12 total games with WBS, Jarry is 6-5-1 with a .908 save percentage, including an .866 save percentage over his last three starts.

In 22 NHL games this season, Jarry is 8-8-4 with an .886 save percentage.

Blomqvist, 23, was with the Penguins for a stint earlier this season, putting up a .903 save percentage through those first eight appearances of his NHL career. Unfortunately, he has struggled through his second stint, posting just an .854 save percentage since.

The young Finnish goaltender is 7-5-3 with a .910 save percentage at the AHL level this season.
