Torquay United manager Paul Wotton insisted he always believed Torquay United would score, after their dramatic 3–2 victory over Dover Athletic.
The Gulls were behind twice but responded, firstly via Cody Cooke from the penalty spot, and then Jordan Young’s stunning strike just shy of the hour mark.
Matt Jay netted an 89th-minute winner to lift Torquay into second in the National League South standings, continuing on their strong start to the season.
“To go 1-0 down in the game, it’s very rare you come back and win,” said the former Plymouth defender to BBC Radio Devon.
“The percentages are very, very low. The boys took it on the chin and they just marched forward, we got the penalty and then you go 2-1 down.
“I always thought we’d score and we just showed tremendous character.”
