The first thing that caught me in Par X Design’s “See You Out There” was the golf course that is not in the frame.
A golfer sits beside a golf bag, looking over a stream of city traffic toward a suspension bridge at sunset. The clubs are still there, but the round has moved into the past. New York keeps going in front of them.
That is a small decision with a lot behind it. Golf art usually asks us to admire the place where the game is played. This piece looks at the hours around a round, when the shoes are still on, the bag has not been put away and the golfer has a few minutes alone with whatever happened out there.
