The Green Bay Packers brought in guard Kevin Zeitler for a visit on Tuesday. Zeitler has been a popular name floated around by the fanbase, as the former Wisconsin Badger was able to earn Pro Bowl honors back in 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens.
Zeitler is currently a free agent after spending the last two years with the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans, and he’s made 213 career NFL starts. The Milwaukee native signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Titans last year, and it’s uncertain what his asking price is currently. [Update: $6 million to $8 million could be Zeitler’s range.]

Per Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, there’s no news either way on whether the Packers will sign Zeitler, but you’d have to imagine that Green Bay fans, desperate for a functioning offensive line after watching the first three games of the season, will never forgive the team if they turn down the opportunity to sign the local legend.
At the moment, the Packers’ 53-man roster is full, so they would need to make a corresponding roster move to sign Zeitler. What makes this tricky is that after signing Laken Tomlinson to the 53-man roster from the New York Giants’ practice squad, the Packers had to promise Tomlinson a three-week stay on their active roster—which means they can’t simply move Tomlinson off the roster to make room for Zeitler.
Green Bay does have two practice squad spots open after the team released running back Damon Bakston and offensive lineman Cordell Volson earlier today.
Zeitler wasn’t the only player the Packers brought in today. Zeitler was listed as a visit by the NFL’s transaction report, meaning that he did not work out on the field for the team. Green Bay did have the following players brought in on workouts today:

The defensive linemen are interesting, as the Packers released Eric Johnson II, their only interior defensive lineman on the practice squad, on Monday to make room for the signing of offensive lineman Mekhi Becton.
