Ousmane Dembele has been speaking to the Spanish media about his decision to leave Barcelona and join PSG in 2023.
“In my case, it was time to leave the club. Even though I was very attached to Barça, whom I’ve supported since I was a child,” Dembele explained.
“But for me, it was important to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.”
He went on to call it the “best decision” he had made.
Dembele on Luis Enrique influence
The attacker gave special credit to manager Luis Enrique for persuading him to make the move:
“He explained his plans to me, his vision of my role in his team and how he envisaged our future together at Paris Saint-Germain,”

Even PSG fans weren’t convinced when Dembele made the move. This was a player whose career to that point had been full of unrealised talent. Injuries held him back, and some talked of a bad work ethic too.
But the attacker has put all of that behind him and established himself among the world’s best now, and he’s got the medals to show for it too.
In other news…
Demebele needs back-ups up top, and it seems like PSG could target Barcelona once again to find one.
PSG have joined a few English teams in looking at a relegated Premier League midfielder who is now on the market.
