The Ottawa Senators have reassigned three players to the Belleville Senators, it was announced Monday.
Goaltender Leevi Merilainen along with forwards Zack Ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt were the players sent down.
Drafted by the Senators in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Merilainen picked up his first career NHL win in this latest recall. Across 13 appearances with Belleville this season, Merilainen has posted a record of 7-2-4 to go along with a 2.43 GAA and a .901 SP. In two appearances with Ottawa, he collected a record of 1-1-0, a 3.72 GAA and a .846 SV%.
Ostapchuk, a product of Edmonton, Alta., has split time between the NHL and AHL this season. In 20 games with Ottawa, he has put up three assists while collecting eight points in nine games with Belleville. A 2021 second round pick of the Senators, Ostapchuk has three career NHL points.
The final player reassigned, Reinhardt has seen six games with Ottawa in 2024-25, putting up a goal and an assist. Although he has seen the most games with Belleville amongst the three, he has collected 16 points in 13 games. A 2020 sixth round pick by Ottawa, Reinhardt has played in seven career NHL games.
All three players have been important contributors for the Sens when called upon this season and have proven to be building blocks for the future.
