Justin Rose be paying close attention to the live projected cut line for a change at the 2026 Open Championship.

The 45-year-old from England teed off in the first round as one of the pre-tournament favorites, returning to the course (Royal Birkdale) in which he initially burst onto the international golfing scene as a 17-year-old amateur in 1998. But Rose will need to play well just to make it to the weekend after a disastrous start.

Rose (+5) is among the well-known golfers who struggled to handle Royal Birkdale during the early wave of tee times on Thursday, July 16, carding seven bogeys despite conditions that appeared to be more conducive for scoring than previous Open Championships held at the northwest coast of England venue. The 2013 U.S. Open champion has missed the cut at the Open Championship just once since his lone major win, including two second-place finishes in pursuit of a Claret Jug.

More than half of the 156-golfer field will be eliminated at the conclusion of Friday’s second round by the 36-hole cut line.

Here’s a live breakdown of the projected cut line at the 2026 Open Championship, and which golfers are in danger of missing the cut, as Round 1 tee times continue at Royal Birkdale on Thursday, July 16:
