Following back-to-back defeats to Valencia and Arsenal, the future of Carlo Ancelotti has been the big talking point at Real Madrid.

The Italian is facing mounting pressure, having struggled to steady the ship at Real Madrid, who could potentially miss out on both La Liga and Copa Del Rey this season.

Uncertainty over Ancelotti’s future grows

According to COPE (h/t Defensa Central), it seems unlikely that Ancelotti will complete the final year of his contract.

Despite having one of the strongest squads in recent memory, Madrid have lacked rhythm, urgency, and results.

Several figures within the club believe his second spell has run its course. After four seasons, there’s a sense of fatigue and a growing belief that a new direction is needed.

Ancelotti, for his part, has remained quiet as ever, refusing to give any details regarding his future at the club, though he has always maintained his desire to fulfill the duration of his contract.

What’s next for Ancelotti?

Despite the recent setbacks, Ancelotti still has a shot at salvaging the season. But the road is steep. Real Madrid must overturn a 3-0 deficit against Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

They also have a Copa del Rey final against Barcelona coming up — a game that could define his future.

There is still chance in La Liga as well. A win today against Alaves could help them reduce the gap at the top to just four points, with a Clasico still yet to be played.

In the background, the Brazilian football federation remain keen on acquiring the services of Ancelotti, who has been identified as the ideal manager to lead the team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
