Rémy Riou (37) has officially extended his Paris FC contract. The veteran goalkeeper has signed a one-year deal for the 2025-26 season.
Riou joined the club in January 2024 and has made just three appearances. However, he brings with him a wealth of experience in French football. Having started his career at Lyon, Riou has enjoyed lengthy spells at Auxerre, Nantes and Caen in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
After earning promotion from Ligue 2 last season, Paris FC are preparing to return to the French top-flight after a 46-year absence. According to L’Équipe, Riou is expected to remain as backup to current first-choice goalkeeper Obed Nkambadio (22). However, Riou’s Ligue 1 experience is expected to prove valuable in supporting the young Nkambadio, who has yet to feature at that level.
Alongside the exciting arrival of talent such as Moses Simon, the decision to extend Riou’s contract demonstrates Les Parisiens’ sensible and balanced approach to building a competitive Ligue 1 squad.
