Barcelona have secured another small but valuable financial gain this summer, continuing a trend of smart business moves that bring in cash without new signings or sales of their current players.
The club has already earned €600,000 following the recent transfer of Ilaix Moriba from RB Leipzig to Celta Vigo. Now, they are set to receive an additional €400,000 thanks to the sale of Alex Collado, reports SPORT.
The former Barcelona midfielder, who left the club in 2023 to join Real Betis on a free transfer, has officially moved to Al Shamal in Qatar.
While the initial move to Betis brought no direct income, Barcelona had cleverly included a 20% sell-on clause.
With the reported transfer fee to Al Shamal standing at €2 million, the Catalan club will now collect €400,000 from that agreement.
Interestingly, more income is expected as former players move on.
Though Collado never played an official match for Real Betis due to financial fair play and registration complications, he continued his career on loan in Saudi Arabia.
He spent one season at Al Okhdood and the most recent one at Al Kholood, where he featured in 30 matches, scored five goals, and assisted three.
Including the latest additions, Barcelona have already brought in around €15.5 million this transfer window through similar deals.
The club is keeping a close eye on more potential income through sell-on clauses.
Players like Oscar Mingueza (Celta Vigo, 50%), Mika Marmol (Las Palmas, 50%), and Estanis Pedrola (Sampdoria, 50%) could still bring more money into the club before the transfer window closes.
