There won’t be any “revolutions” right away for Cristian Chivu, who will rely on the same old core of players at Inter Milan this season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
At the start of the summer, there was a sense that big changes were in the air at Inter.
First of all, the end of last campaign suggested that the current Nerazzurri squad was tired and had gone as far as it could go.
Then, the departure of Simone Inzaghi further created a feeling that a cycle had come to an end.
Therefore, it seemed as though the arrival of a young coach like Cristian Chivu would mean a squad revamp. The Romanian wouldn’t necessarily be relying on the players Inzaghi had for four years.

And there certainly have been changes at Inter this summer.
For one thing, Chivu has significantly altered the training methods, bringing back the intense physical preparation of the Antonio Conte era.
Furthermore, Inter have brought in several players. There have been four signings, all aged 23 and younger.
Meanwhile, Francesco Pio Esposito has become a part of the Inter first team after impressing on loan with Spezia and at the Club World Cup.
Therefore, it will definitely be a different-looking Inter than that of the last few seasons.
However, the core of the squad will remain the same as ever.
There have been no major departure of first-choice starters. Players like Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Lautaro Martinez will still have key roles.
And so will the likes of Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi. And Hakan Calhanoglu in midfield.
Calhanoglu had been the subject of transfer speculation for several weeks in June and July. Galatasaray had wanted to sign him.
However, the fact that Calhanoglu stayed at Inter in the end is an apt symbol of the club’s decision to keep the core of the squad intact.
