Standout rookie safety Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle injury during practice, according to a pool report released by the Pro Football Writers of America. The injury occurred while he was defending a pass and he was able to walk off the field on his own.

Seattle will hope the injury isn’t severe with the Super Bowl just four days away.

Nick Emmanwori injury update

Emmanwori was limited in practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury he suffered during practice.

“He had an ankle today, we brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that the safety would undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury.

Emmanwori has made an immediate impact in the NFL after Seattle selected him with the 35th overall pick in the 2025 draft. He has faced the most zone coverage targets (54) without allowing a touchdown among all nickels and safeties in the NFL in 2025, per NextGenStats. He has two passes defensed and zero touchdowns allowed on seven zone coverage targets during the 2025 playoffs.

Emmanwori’s status in the coming days will be one to watch on the Seahawks’ injury report leading up to the Super Bowl. If he can’t play this Sunday, it would be a significant blow for the Seahawks’ “Dark Side” defense.
