New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll reportedly thinks Big Blue signal-caller Jaxson Dart “has some Josh Allen in him,” according to a text an NFL head coach sent to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

“Around the league now, I keep hearing the same line: ‘Daboll finally has his guy.’

“Not just a quarterback who can run his offense, but a quarterback who reflects him.

“One AFC head coach texted me, ‘(Daboll) thinks Dart has some Josh Allen in him. That’s what this love is all about.'”

Daboll knows Allen well given he was his offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills from 2018-2021 before leaving to coach the Giants. Allen, of course, is now the reigning NFL MVP and leading a strong Bills team that could be heading to its first-ever Super Bowl victory. In other words, if Daboll is right on that gut feeling, then that’s a big win for the Giants.

Dart, a rookie out of Ole Miss, has now started three games for the Giants, leading them to a 2-1 record under center after serving as the backup behind Russell Wilson for the first three weeks.

In his starts, Dart has completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 508 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also rushed for 167 yards and two scores on just 30 carries.

Dart has lit up the Giants fanbase with his energy alongside backfield mate/running back Cam Skattebo. The two (plus a playmaking defense) just guided the Giants to a 34-17 upset win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

There’s long-term hope for the Giants now after a rough 9-25 stretch over the previous two seasons. One can safely assume the great relationship between Daboll and Dart has played a major role.

“Me and Dabs just have a special relationship. He’s the guy that believed in me from day one,” Dart said, per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan on Sept. 28. “I think it does say a lot that he made the decision and had the confidence in me. Even just giving me the ball in those situations on a third down to make a play. I know that when you have a coach who you know has your back, I’m going to go out there and do everything I can for him to win.”

The Giants have the weekend off after their Thursday win over the Eagles and will now hit the road for a pair of games on the next two Sundays against the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia once more.
