During the first period of the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs game on Tuesday night at the Saddledome, the newest Flames forward, Joel Farabee, scored his first goal with his new team.
However, the visitors, who are a perfect 4-0 on coach’s challenges this season, asked for a review, citing that Jonathan Huberdeau interfered with netminder Joseph Woll.
The review took a couple of minutes, but ultimately, the officials determined that Huberdeau’s stick got into Woll’s pads and skates, preventing him from getting to the loose puck in the crease.
Interestingly, it was the second disallowed goal of the first period, as Toronto’s John Tavares had a goal called back on a high stick.
However, Farabee tipped home a Huberdeau shot in the third period at 6:02 to cut into the Maple Leafs’ 5-2 lead. It was the former Philadelphia Flyers’ first goal since Jan. 27 and first point with Calgary. He’s now the 462nd player to score a goal for the franchise.
