Mitch Bolte delivered one of the best men’s golf debut seasons in the country last spring.
Bolte, a Newark graduate, was named to the NCAA Division III All-Freshman Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America following his first season at Wittenberg University.
Bolte previously was named North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year after placing fifth in the NCAC championships, leading the Tigers to the championship. Bolte’s two-under par 54-hole performance at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana, was highlighted by a 68 in the second round.
Bolte tied for 27th in the NCAA championships at Midvale Country Club and Cobblestone Creek Country Club in New York, firing rounds of 73, 74, 74 and 76 for the Tigers.
Bolte was a two-time Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division runner-up for Newark. He also was the first Wildcat to qualify for the Division I district tournament in more than a decade.
