It wasn’t as dominant as last week’s performance, but it was still pretty good.

Arizona shot 1-under par as a team on Friday during the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. That puts the Wildcats in a tie for 6th place out of 30 teams.

The UA, North Carolina and Texas are each seven shots back of leader UCLA but comfortably within the top 15, which get to play an extra round of stroke play after Sunday’s third round.

Senior Filip Jakubcik is Arizona’s top individual after 18 holes, carding a 4-under 68 that’s good for a tie for 5th. He and teammate Zach Pollo, who shot even par Friday, tied for the regional title last week in Marana as the Wildcats dominated the field.

Three golfers are tied the the lead at 6-under.

Arizona will tee off for Saturday’s second round at 7:47 a.m. PT on the back nine, once again playing with Vanderbilt and ASU.
